Despite coming down with a urinary tract infection Thursday, having to spend an hour in Jiffy Lube watching a particularly irritating episode of SpongeBob Squarepants and Taylor coming down with a cold, we ended having a truly fantastic anniversary celebration.
Originally, Taylor had told me he was going to take care of the plans. Then, he decided he was going to buy us a new bed instead (we really need one, ours is cheap and kills my back). However, when he was in Colorado for work last week, I bought a memory foam layer which has helped considerably. Needless to say, we decided to hold off on the bed for now and I came up with a few plans instead.
I knew I wanted to take Taylor back to
Farm to Fork, where we went before we saw the
Lion King. It is SO adorable and the food is FANTASTIC. Taylor had a game hen and some deadly mashed potatoes and I had a pork loin dish with the craziest, most delicious potatoes ever (both pictured above). Food was a theme of the weekend, in case you couldn't tell. :) We then drove into Portland to stay at
Hotel Modera, which was chic, modern and the perfect place for us to just relax. Many thanks to
Kerri for hookup.
Saturday morning we got up and headed over the bridge to Bakery Bar, which I had been introduced to just a few weeks prior by
Rhi and Bill. I got to chow on another of their deadly egg sandwiches and enjoy the Portland fall weather. After breakfast, we took a jaunt down the street to
Moxie, one of my lovely sponsors, to try on their latest shipment of TOMS (there's a TON, go try them on!). Taylor upgraded from his burlap-type pair (we called them Air Moses) to a chic gray plaid/flannel pair.
After Moxie, we headed south to Bridgeport Village and did a little more shopping- mainly at Borders where I picked up the new Rick Riordan book. Anyone else reading this? I hate getting started on series as they're being release. Waiting totally SUCKS, but this series- a spinoff of Percy Jackson- seems promising. I'll let you know. :)
Our final activity was watching
Life As We Know It, with Katherine Heigl and Josh Duhamel. I really liked it and would totally go see it again, if anyone wants to (hint, hint). However, be warned that my taste in movies is heavily influenced by wardrobe and set decor. Seriously.
So, what's new with you?
