OOTD (04.30.10) Spearmint and Cinderella.

Morning all! Hope you are having a fantastic Friday and have plans for a great weekend. Wearing a new dress just gives you a feeling. That feeling like the little birdies outside are going to fly right in through your window and help you get dressed a la Cinderella. No? Well it does for me. I'm pretty sure that between my new dress, my Dad coming today and my co-worker being back from being sick, this Friday is going to be killer.

Anyway, I didn't want to over accessorize my new dress first time out, as it pretty much speaks for itself, so I added a spearmint colored cardigan, an olive belt, some nude pumps and yellow earrings. I gave myself a little beehive pony for some retro flair as well cat-lined eyes. What do we think?

It's Thursday! Which means it's almost Friday! Which means my Dad will be here tomorrow for a weekend full of yardwork...there goes the excitement. But seriously, I'm really looking forward to having him here and spending some quality time, side by side, digging in the dirt. Unless I can weasel my way out of it.:)

I got the idea for today's outfit while shopping at J.Crew last weekend on my "official" styling/personal shopping job. Shameless plug: if you require either of these services EMAIL ME. Anyway, in stores they have a lovely gray and white checked top. I though, oh wouldn't that look lovely with a white skirt and that giant pink flower pin I have? Well the shirt was about $70 and I wasn't about the spend that much on a super thin button up just for the sake of a cute outfit. The day after, as I was perusing the outlet stores with my sister-in-law, I saw this lovely aqua and white checked version on the sale rack! And guess how much I paid for it? $31. And it's marked two sizes smaller than I normally wear. Freaky outlet sizing for the win!

Anyway, here's the look all put together. Please forgive my awful posture.

And go check me out at BlogHer Style today! They picked up my post about Defining my style. Very exciting!

I received this email from Leslie this week and I couldn't wait to share this post with you all. Here's what Leslie sent me:

Hi!
My name is Leslie, I've been reading your blog for a few weeks now because I love your sense of style! I am an Army wife living in (the middle of nowhere) Missouri, although we are moving to Washington next month (SUPER EXCITED!). I have a 7 month old daughter who I am just in love with.

I need some fashion advice if you get a chance. I was wondering if you could give me some ideas for stylish, casual, summer outfits. Unfortunately with a soon-to-be-mobile baby it is not practical for me to wear many skirts and dresses, except to church. I am trying to break free from the "mom uniform" of jeans and a tee. I've been eying some pieces from Anthro: the Springboard Short shorts, Joe's Honey Kicker crops, and the Pearly Glow Tank for starters! If you could give some tips on how to pull casual summer outfits together I would really appreciate it! Thanks so much! Keep up the fantastic style inspiration :-)

God Bless,

Leslie

Never fear Leslie! Krameymartin is here, with some fabulous ideas for you this summer! I decided to use some celebrity moms as examples, as they tend to need to both look great and be mobile.

First up, we have Jessica Alba.

Jessica Alba

Ms. Alba has seamlessly gone from bombshell to mom-shell (hee). She makes motherhood look chic and relaxed with a lower-maintenance hairdo, casual rolled up pants, a printed tee and cardigan. I chose a brighter colored tee and cardigan, lighter weight pants and some bright accessories to make the look a little more spring/summer. The flats I chose are made of t-shirt material, so even Leslie's toes would be comfortable!

Next, is Michelle Williams.

Michelle Williams.

Michelle looks cool, comfortable and yet put together with this Bohemian look. I substituted Michelle's flowery top for this new plaid tunic from Anthropologie, used a pair of denim shorts Leslie has had her eye on and added a cream bag and sandals, instead of the black bag since we are in the warmer season. Some aviators top this look off nicely and are perfect for Leslie while she's running errands.

Katie Holmes, despite her sometimes crazy husband, has mastered the art of mom dressing. She chooses chic, classic pieces and pairs them with a casual hairstyle or a brighter color to dress them down. See?

Katie Holmes.

Katie's crisp white top and structured bag give off a put together vibe, while her loose bun and jeans add a casual flair. For Leslie, I chose a pair of cotton city shorts since they are lighter, and substituted the emerald bag for a turquoise one. Pink rose posts and light pink sandals pull the look together perfectly.

Rounding out our lineup of Hollywood moms is the ever-glamorous Heidi Klum.

Heidi Klum.

I just love the white and army green combo Heidi employs in this photo. For Leslie, I found this similar tunic at J.Crew and a pair of the softest, lightest capris I've ever felt in my life. I added some bright yellow accents and the same aviators as Heidi wears to round out this chic summer look.

What do we think? How about it Leslie? Any advice from you Moms out there?

Good Wednesday all! I put this outfit together last night after remembering a magazine cutout of a model dressed similarly. After I put this together however, I realized that the model's version was all navy blue up top (skirt and blouse) with yellow tights and red shoes. I tried to mimic hers exactly, but ended up liking my version better. Since it's cold and rainy and I have to wear tights, they might as well be bright red, right?!

Headband: Forever 21
Tee: Target
Necklace: 1928
Watch: Nordstrom
Skirt: J.Crew
Tights: Hue
Wedges: Steve Madden

What do we think? What kinds of things do you turn to when your spring days are cold and gray?

OOTD (04.27.10) Zero fun, sir.

Hey all. It's a pretty dreary day here in Oregon, and I was running a bit late this morning, so I just threw on some jeans and something to brighten up my day: a flower and bright orange top. Now that I think of it, I kind of look like a creamsicle today. That's a happy thought! Anyway, here it is:

Headband: J.Crew
Earrings: Kate Spade
Rimpled Tee: Anthropologie
Scarf: Target
Roxanne Skinny Jeans: Seven for All Mankind
Booties: Jessica Simpson
Ring: Costume Jewelry

And an outtake for your amusement. This is me jumping into the wall:

Don't have a whole lot to say this morning. Good morning and here's my outfit!:)

Earrings: Target
Dress: J.Crew
Elbow Patch Blazer: Anthropologie
Wedges: Cynthia Vincent for Target
Ring: Target

There was a farmer mowing the orchard behind our house today and Taylor was being my photographer, so please forgive my somewhat bashful poses. It's much easier to pose when it's just you and a self-timer.:)

Anthropologie Reviews and a few Closet Sale items.

I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times, but there is no better way to start a Monday morning than with some Anthropologie. Also, perhaps some coffee and a prayer, but Anthro is definitely in the top 5. So here you are my faithful friends, some new reviews for your perusing pleasure.

On my way up to Portland Saturday, complete with a new 'do, I stopped in at Anthro intent on making a purchase. I had decided that in celebration of my very first legitimate styling job and some other exciting news (to be shared later this week) I would buy the Beda Dress (Size 4) that I've been dreaming about for the past month.

Wasn't it just meant to be? I'm in love.

I wasn't sure about the Deeply Rooted Henley (Small) and I suppose I still am not sure how/when I would wear it, but I really did like it. My only issue was that it really just looks like pajamas/loungewear. Wishlisted, but we'll see.

Despite a peppy print, the Bountiful Birds Blouse (Size 4) was a total snooze on me. It was rather sheer and a little too short for my liking, but mostly it was just boring. Pass.

As you will notice, I wasn't perfectly prepared for trying on white tops on this outing. Oh well. I was really looking forward to trying on the Keep It Simple Tunic (Size 4), thinking it would be a great summer basic, but honestly, this was another piece that kind of put me to sleep. The white is ridiculously sheer, and I don't know of a cami that is long enough to go underneath. The colored versions might be a better way to go, but since I'm in the market for white blouses, this was a pass.

Winning the category for biggest over achiever was the Lissome Ruffles Tunic (Size 4). I loved the ruching down the middle, the subtle ruffles, the material and the sleeves. My only issue with this piece was the fact that it comes in black, dark blue and dark pink/maroon. It's spring and I don't want to be wearing such dark colors! How about light green? Tiffany blue!? C'mon Anthro! Pass for now.

I must admit, I only tried this on because it looks so great on Sara and before seeing it on her, I had never given the Torsade Tee (Small) a second glance. Though it looks fabulous on her, I decided that the ruched seam in the middle, the mini-cap sleeves and the fact that the "twist" seems to stop off randomly in the center were just too many strikes against it for me. Pass!

It's a rare occasion when something at Anthro makes me feel a little exposed, but the Banderole Tank (Size 4) accomplished that feat and more. Yikes! I think this top is really pretty, I just can not think of one single circumstance in which I would have reason to or feel comfortable wearing this. Pass! Definitely loved the flag print though!

I think this trip to Anthro shall be titled "the one where I sleep through every top I try on." There wasn't anything wrong with the Coil Flower Tank (Small) although it did run a little large, it just seemed so BORING! Pass pass pass.

I was so sure that I would love the Sailing Stripes Blouse (Size 4), alas I did not. I was surprised to find that the body of the top is made of linen and not jersey. I think jersey would have draped better as the linen was cut a little too widely and kind of gave off a tent like feel. Boo! I love the silk tie on the collar, but not enough to sacrifice any semblance of a shape.

I was pleasantly surprised by the Woodblock Print Skirt (Size 6). Though I'm not huge on butterflies and big florals like this, the colors, material and cut of this skirt were exquisite. I may snag this come sale time. Added to the wish list!

Though I still maintain that the Zoya Dress's (Size 6) winter cousin was much cuter than this rendition, I was surprised at how much I actually liked this on. It's just such a nice concept: silky, drapey top with a structured, textured skirt. However, this is definitely not an ideal color palette for me, so unless I can't get a hold of the Night Blooming Dress, I think I'll pass on this. Added to the wishlist just in case though.:)

The Dreaming in Green Skirt (Size 6) is one of the biggest reasons why I love Anthropologie. The take a very basic piece, like a tweed pencil skirt, and they add a retro feel, bright green and blue stripes and kitschy green buttons up the front. This skirt was super flattering, the perfect length, high quality and beautifully lined. This piece will make itself a home in my closet come sale time. How lovely would this be with a white blouse? Love!

Rounding out my reviews, and the line up of slightly blah tops, was the Poetess Blouse (Size 4). I had my doubts going in on this one, but since it looked so adorable in the product shot, I had to give it a try. The biggest issue I had with this top was the buttons and button closures. There is no way I would ever want to wear it just because it would be so hard to get on and off. Pass!!

Finally, a few more items from my closet up for grabs.

American Eagle Flowered Tank.
Originally $24.95, worn two or three times, size Medium.

Happy Saturday loves! I normally wouldn't post an outfit on a Saturday, but in case you don't follow me on Twitter, I made a little change last night...

Zooey Deschanel made me do it.

What do you think? I was unsure at first, but I think I'm kind of liking them. I can always wear them to the side too. I was just getting so bored with my hair.

Another first, besides the bangs, is the fact that I have my first ever styling job today! So excited! This is the start of something good, I can feel it!

And here's what I'm wearing:

Earrings: Target
Maeshow Shirtdress: Anthropologie
Ring: Costume Jewelry
Gladiators: Urban Outfitters

A few Closet Sale items.

Good Friday morning my lovely readers! I'm REALLY glad it's almost the weekend. I have serious plans to finish a project, relax and do some more relaxing this weekend. I might have to head into Anthropologie and do some reviews however, because some of their new arrivals have piqued my curiosity. Especially this sweet number.

I was amazed last night when I found my orders from the Tuesday Anthro sale in my mailbox! USPS for the win! This gorgeous plaid tunic, which I've had my eye on for a while, was one of the items, and I'm loving the summery feel it has to it. I also scored a pair of the coveted Cynthia Vincent for Target wedges, and I must say they are the most comfortable shoes I've owned in a while. Highly recommended if you don't mind being a giant!

Glasses: Kate Spade
Earrings: Nordstrom
Cardigan: J.Crew
Caricurist Tunic: Anthropologie
Tights: Anthropologie

What do we think?

Thanks for the photos and Happy Birthday to my co-worker J! Thanks for being my creative soul sister...I would shrivel up and die without you!

And readers, don't miss the Fictional Fashion post I wrote last night. I'm kind of loving it! Regular series maybe? Thoughts?
