I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times, but there is no better way to start a Monday morning than with some
Anthropologie. Also, perhaps some coffee and a prayer, but
Anthro is definitely in the top 5. So here you are my faithful friends, some new reviews for your perusing pleasure.
On my way up to Portland Saturday, complete with a
new 'do, I stopped in at
Anthro intent on making a purchase. I had decided that in celebration of my very first legitimate styling job and some other exciting news (to be shared later this week) I would buy the
Beda Dress (Size 4) that I've been dreaming about for the past month.
Wasn't it just meant to be? I'm in love.
I wasn't sure about the
Deeply Rooted Henley (Small) and I suppose I still am not sure how/when I would wear it, but I really did like it. My only issue was that it really just looks like pajamas/
loungewear.
Wishlisted, but we'll see.
Despite a peppy print, the
Bountiful Birds Blouse (Size 4) was a total snooze on me. It was rather sheer and a little too short for my liking, but mostly it was just boring. Pass.
As you will notice, I wasn't perfectly prepared for trying on white tops on this outing. Oh well. I was really looking forward to trying on the
Keep It Simple Tunic (Size 4), thinking it would be a great summer basic, but honestly, this was another piece that kind of put me to sleep. The white is ridiculously sheer, and I don't know of a
cami that is long enough to go underneath. The colored versions might be a better way to go, but since I'm in the market for white blouses, this was a pass.
Winning the category for biggest over achiever was the
Lissome Ruffles Tunic (Size 4). I loved the
ruching down the middle, the subtle ruffles, the material and the sleeves. My only issue with this piece was the fact that it comes in black, dark blue and dark pink/maroon. It's spring and I don't want to be wearing such dark colors! How about light green? Tiffany blue!?
C'mon Anthro! Pass for now.
I must admit, I only tried this on because it looks so great on
Sara and before seeing it on her, I had never given the
Torsade Tee (Small) a second glance. Though it looks fabulous on her, I decided that the ruched seam in the middle, the mini-cap sleeves and the fact that the "twist" seems to stop off randomly in the center were just too many strikes against it for me. Pass!
It's a rare occasion when something at
Anthro makes me feel a little exposed, but the
Banderole Tank (Size 4) accomplished that feat and more. Yikes! I think this top is really pretty, I just can not think of one single circumstance in which I would have reason to or feel comfortable wearing this. Pass! Definitely loved the flag print though!
I think this trip to
Anthro shall be titled "the one where I sleep through every top I try on." There wasn't anything wrong with the
Coil Flower Tank (Small) although it did run a little large, it just seemed so BORING! Pass pass pass.
I was so sure that I would love the
Sailing Stripes Blouse (Size 4), alas I did not. I was surprised to find that the body of the top is made of linen and not jersey. I think jersey would have draped better as the linen was cut a little too widely and kind of gave off a tent like feel. Boo! I love the silk tie on the collar, but not enough to sacrifice any semblance of a shape.
I was pleasantly surprised by the
Woodblock Print Skirt (Size 6). Though I'm not huge on butterflies and big
florals like this, the colors, material and cut of this skirt were exquisite. I may snag this come sale time. Added to the wish list!
Though I still maintain that the
Zoya Dress's (Size 6) winter cousin was much cuter than this rendition, I was surprised at how much I actually liked this on. It's just such a nice concept: silky,
drapey top with a structured, textured skirt. However, this is definitely not an ideal color palette for me, so unless I can't get a hold of the Night Blooming Dress, I think I'll pass on this. Added to the
wishlist just in case though.:)
The
Dreaming in Green Skirt (Size 6) is one of the biggest reasons why I love
Anthropologie. The take a very basic piece, like a tweed pencil skirt, and they add a retro feel, bright green and blue stripes and kitschy green buttons up the front. This skirt was super flattering, the perfect length, high quality and beautifully lined. This piece will make itself a home in my closet come sale time. How lovely would this be with a white blouse? Love!
Rounding out my reviews, and the line up of slightly blah tops, was the
Poetess Blouse (Size 4). I had my doubts going in on this one, but since it looked so adorable in the product shot, I had to give it a try. The biggest issue I had with this top was the buttons and button closures. There is no way I would ever want to wear it just because it would be so hard to get on and off. Pass!!
