Today (Sunday) was spectacular. Headed to church with my husband, the sun was shining and I went up to Portland for lunch and pedicures with two of my favorite Portland bloggers. See?

(Photo via Kerrianne, who is missing from this lovely shot)

After our date, I decided I'd stop by the "big" Anthropologie in the Pearl and return the very large "statement" necklace I bought Thursday night. I decided it was just too much of a statement for me. While I was there, I tried on some of the pieces I've been eyeing on the website for a while.

The Swift Current Cardigan (Small) is a lovely color, but up close, I'm not a huge fan of the knit. The color is too bright to go with much of anything, at least anything I own, and the knit looked almost...dare I say, cheap? Definitely not worth $88.00. It looks cuter in this photo than it did in person, it was rather bulky from the side. This one shall be removed from my wish list.

Next I tried what I believe are the Step Lively Trousers (Size 6) in navy, though the ones on the web site are gray. I have a HARD HARD time with pants. Which is why I usually wear either jeans, skirts or dresses. Capris, slacks, trousers, whatever you want to call them, they don't fit me. So, imagine my GIDDINESS when I slid these puppies on and they fit like a charm. I've been dying for some nautical inspired pants, and though the ones I tried on at the after-hours party were cute, I wasn't in love. These, I LOVE. They are definitely getting added to my wish list, although I think I'll go with the "Tall" size.

On top of the trousers was the Lisbet Blouse (Size 4). Very cute from the front, very cute underneath a sweater or jacket, but straight up WEIRD from the side. This is one of those tops that would make my husband say "what the heck are you wearing?" And I try to avoid that reaction for the most part. Pass.

I spotted the Today and Tomorrow skirt (Size 6) on one of the display tables and was immediately drawn to the soft green color. Pastels and naturals are big this spring and I'm finding myself drawn towards them more and more. Though pleats and a tulip silhouette are usually not my pairing, I actually really liked the shape of this skirt. The only problem is, the material seemed a little wrong. It was almost like a seat belt material. Thinner, but oddly industrial. If this one goes on major sale, I may pick it up, but until then, not so much.

I did really like the top that I tried on with the skirt, which does not appear on the website. The color was lovely, the shape was great and the cutouts were subtle yet interesting. Only problem, it was $78. Headed to the wish list for sale time.

I've been wanting to try on the Blazing Rays Dress (Size 4) for a long time. The pattern is super cute, I love the draping and the color is great. The only problem I had with this dress was trying to decide where I would wear it. The material and pattern are super casual, but the draping and lines are more formal. I don't tend to lounge around in strapless dresses, but I can't imagine I would feel "dressed up" enough for a wedding or party in this either. Cute, yet confusing. I think this one is a pass. Especially with all the lovely new dresses in the new arrivals section.

Ah the Elbow Patch Blazer (Size 4- no longer online). I have had this baby in my wish list since I saw it on a sales associate a couple of weeks ago. And today, with the exchange of my gaudy, and expensive! necklace, I brought this home with me. I have been dying for a boyfriend blazer all winter and was glad to see them stay around for spring. However, I have a really short torso and the two bf blazers I've ordered have dwarfed me and I've returned them. This simple, cropped, navy blue jacket with the ADORABLE elbow patches solved my problems and I'm already sketching out all the outfits I can make with this baby. Yay!

I think the Chantico Tank (Small) was the first of the new arrivals to make it to my wish list. This top is so gorgeous. It may be my obsession with all things Percy Jackson right now, but this top makes me feel like I'm back in ancient Greece. Gorgeous! Once this hits the sale section, IT SHALL BE MINE.

This last outfit has me a little miffed. I HATED both items in the dressing room, but as I look at the photos, I am thinking that it's a pretty cute outfit. Weird. The Blue Bird Blouse is a beautiful mess. I couldn't figure out what to do with the giant tie in the front and there are two billows/puffs right above the bust that make it look like you have four...um...you know's, rather than the normal anatomical amount. The print is gorgeous, but I just can't picture myself wearing this on a regular basis. The second item in this outfit were the Joe's Raw Hem Kicker (Size 28). Too big in the waist, too tight in the knees/calves, too long in the crotch. But a really beautiful wash! For those who regularly buy Joe's Jeans (I've never fit well in them) these would be a great match. As long as you don't have giant knees like me.:)

That's all for now! How were your weekends? Ready for March (yeesh!)?

GFU game and dinner with the fab four.

Top: J.Crew
Necklace, belt: Target
Skirt: Me! I made it!
Boots: Dolce Vita

I've got the bug. The sewing bug that is. I'm having A BLAST sitting in my little office, cutting out fabric, threading my machine, dreaming of future pieces. So, Friday night I sat down and pumped out two skirts (one of which is pictured above)! It turned out really well, I actually managed to sew the seams straight and thought "what the heck," I'll wear it to the basketball game!

Anyway, I'm working on an Anthro review post, so you can look forward to that. How were your weekends?

OOTD (02.26.10) New purchases!

So obviously, I scored this gorgeous cape from Summer/Fall 2009 on MAJOR SALE at the after-hours event last night, as well as this funky necklace which I'm wearing, but you can't really see. I can't make up my mind if I'm going to keep it or not.

I also snagged one of these lovelies (in this color) for $8:

Because you can NEVER EVER have enough latte bowls. Amen.

Sneak Peak and some Anthro reviews!

Happy Friday loves! I don't have all the photos from the AMAZING event at my (yes, it's mine) Anthropologie last night, but I wanted to give you a little taste of what we got to do. Once I have them, you'd better believe I'll post a recap. Can't express how truly lovely a night it was! Thanks again Alicia! My night involved this:

And a little of the bubbly, which I actually liked!

Anyways, I couldn't go try on a bunch of lovely things without doing some reviews for you all! I must admit however that my reviewing is a little sparce. I got majorly distracted by all the people, the lovely sales assistants flitting about and the cupcakes. I also spent about 20 minutes in the secret shoe "tent" drooling over $400 Frye boots.

Live and learn. Anyway, here goes!

I tried on the Lorillard Blouse (Size 4) by accident. I thought it was one of the new white blouses (there are like 5 that are seriously drool worthy) but it wasn't. I kind of liked it with the Alena Skirt (size 6), $88.00 though. The whole thing felt very 1940's. I really loved the light, airy chiffon of this skirt and the fit was perfect. The rich blue is pretty, although a little plain, but I added this skirt to my Wishlist.

I was in a major high-waist, wide-leg pant mood, mostly because they look so cute on the models in the catalog, so one of the sales associates brought me the Pilcro Wide Leg Trouser Jeans (Size 28). They actually looked cute on, but I'm either a dark or light wash kind of person and these were just too in between.

I tried this top (Small) with the trouser jeans, which I haven't spotted on the website yet and LOVED it. This one shall be mine, I just couldn't bear to pay $78 for a tank top. I mean we have a lawn mower to buy. Priorities.:)

The second pair of wide leg pants I tried were the Set Sail Trousers (Size 8). I ADORE these pants. The wash is so cool and vintage. The pockets, buttons and seams look like they are right out of the 1940's and although I had to size up for the perfect fit/length, I think these will eventually make their way to my closet. I wish they would have been steamed though, they look funny in this shot.

On top of the Set Sail Trousers, I put the Prevailing Winds Tank (Size 4). I loved the fit, the deep blue color and the gorgeous Stream Bank Sash (S/M) the merchandising manager strapped on me. I don't usually shop in "outfits," but I was sorely tempted to take this three piece ensemble home with me. I resisted the temptation however, once I calculated and realized my entire month's clothes budget would be blown on three items. Wishlisted!

The Thoroughfare Shell (Small) was a pleasant surprise. I grabbed it with the "take one for the team" attitude, figuring I'd review it for my readers, but wouldn't really like it. I actually loved it! The texture is so thick and lovely (especially for a cream top) and the ruffles on the front are subtle yet interesting. It's a great shape and a great color combo. Definitely adding this one to the Wishlist.

And the Smooth Sailing Wide-Legs (Size 6) were the final pair of wide-leggers I tried on. And these are the item I just can't make my mind up on. The fit was great, the style is adorable, the linen is oh so lovely. But white linen, white linen is SEE THROUGH. And though there are pockets in the back...there is no pockets in the front. Quite a conundrum. We'll see when sale time comes around how I'm feeling about them.

Well, that's all for now my friends. I can't wait to tell you all about the event, but until then, have a spectacular weekend! Oh...and I'll show you what I did buy soon too!:)

I realize that to most people, especially those who sew regularly, this is such a bore. But to me, who has always dreamed of being a fashion designer, who has always wondered if I have what it takes, being able to sit down at my sewing machine and make something- something with actual shape in fact, it's just a dream come true!

So bear with me as I post eleventy hundred photos of my very first piece of apparel. Perhaps one day we'll all look back on this post and remember my humble beginnings (ha!).

Where the magic happened.

My trusty assistants: Batman bobble-head and Starburst Jellybeans (BEST EVER).

The dress!

Puuurty!
Buckled Cummerbund: Anthropologie
Wedges: Steve Madden

I have LOTS of room to grow. I mean WOW. Don't look too closely at my seams please. But just knowing that I can do it is so satisfying! I feel like I am one teeny tiny step closer to my dreams.

OOTD (02.24.10) Cool colors.

Sweater: J.Crew (from my MIL)
NEW Dress: Forever 21 (Consignment- $10)
Slender Strands Belt: Anthropologie
Necklace: Vintage secretary pen necklace (Mad Men style)
Tights, pumps: Target

I'm not a big lover of florals. I think this goes back to when I was growing up and had to wear (courtesy of the 90's) many large pink and purple floral print items. Blech. However, when I spotted this little lovely, for $10 no less, at the local consignment shop I just had to try it on! Doesn't it just go lovely with this sweater from my MIL!?

Happy Wednesday!

People StyleWatch: March 2010:

Since this feature is actually called magazine "snapshot," I decided this time around I'd let you do the digging yourselves (if you see something you like) and provide you with actual snapshots. There are some lovely lovely things in here people!

Check it out!

Loved the dress, wedges (similar here) and the gold jewelry.

Loved these wedges.

And these (couldn't find online), which they called clogs, but um, no.

I somewhat begrudgingly admit that I am fascinated by Megan Fox. She's just so foxy! Loving the soft pastel purses.

Cutout leather for the win!

Oh Whitney Port, you mix those patterns.

I am obsessed with all things nautical right now. Speaking of which...

I love this red, white and blue ensemble by Ms. Miller.

Guess what, trench coats, they're cute (shocking)!

Thinking I definitely need some roll-up denim shorts this summer.

Overall a pretty great issue. See anything you like?
