Dressing for a "developing" figure.

So...one of my friends is pregnant. She's the first in this group of us that married our college sweethearts (that term drives me crazy, but it's true!) and it just makes me think, "Oh my word, what if it was me!?" As far as her and her skills as a mother, I have NOT EVEN ONE DOUBT. She will seriously be the best Mom of all time. She's so kind, unselfish, patient, loving and just a really wonderful person. I'm so dang happy for her.

She mentioned in passing that she'd love a few recommendations for ladies with "developing figures," so I thought I'd provide her with a few options. Not that she'll have any issues being an adorable preggo lady, because PEOPLE she will be freakin' gorgeous. I mean think if like Jennifer Aniston got pregnant, that is what this lovely lady will look like. Yeah, I know, right? Anyway, Whit, these are for you!

Since Whitney is due in September, and I've heard being pregnant in the summer can be less than comfortable, I tried to focus on outfits that would really keep her comfy and cool no matter the situation/occasion.

Since I know she's headed to at least two summer weddings, here is a gorgeous option:

Hanging out at the beach can be quite an ordeal while sporting a baby bump, I thought this suit with some coverup options would be adorable:

Next up is a look that would work for anything from shopping, heading out on a date or even just lounging around home:

The same could be said for this casual look, complete with non-lacing shoes (gleaned from Ms. Holly):

To switch it up from dresses, I chose a pair of longer denim shorts and a summer scarf:

Since everyone needs a good pair of jeans, I chose this Citizens of Humanity pair and added some classy accessories for a more put together look:

What do we think? Ladies who've been pregnant before, would these looks have worked for you?

Congrats Whit (and Phil I suppose), love you!

I wore my Mephisto sandals (the Italian version of Berks) throughout my entire pregnancy and I'm even wearing them now (poor things need to be resoled!). Good outfits!

Those Clarks look great and on-trend, and you know they've got to be comfy.

Great outfits! I love how simple the pieces are, but look so put together when combined. Congratulations to Whitney & Phil!

gaaa! she will be the most beautiful mother ever. So so happy for them! good choices kali. Then she can still look cut and be pregnant. this way we do not have to buy her a mumu.

Kali, you are a miracle worker! I've been stressing about the prospect of looking too frumpy especially as summer approaches. I'm going to buy it ALL! So, when are we going shopping? Love you and thanks for the sweet words! We're excited!

I was pregnant for all of last spring and most of last summer, and I wore a lot of tops, dresses, and skirts similar to what you featured, so great choices! I wish I'd started my blog then so I could have featured some of my maternity wear. :-)

Congratulations to your friends!
