OOTD (03.18.10) Mad Men-ing it.

In preparation for the Mad Men marathon I expect we will be starting this evening, since Taylor got the first two seasons from my parents,I decided to dress the part. I have quite a boyish figure (meaning I don't really have a "waist") so 1950's silhouettes really give me shape.

I splurged on this dress for our rehearsal dinner, not really knowing if I would wear it all that much, but I really have been able to incorporate it into my wardrobe. I also added a little cat-eye to my makeup routine this morning and did my own take on a bouffant, complete with some flower barrettes I got on Etsy.

Star Turn Dress: Anthropologie
Sweater: J.Crew
Heels: Target
Bracelet, earrings: Nordstrom
Hair barrettes: Etsy

What do we think? Which decade's fashions fit you the best?

Happy Thursday!

Awwh, you are so pretty, friend. And I love! the processing you did on these photos.

Also: I think my go-to decade is the '70s. I love hippie vintage.

Ooh, I adore the way your swirly rosette barettes match your sweater, such a lovely detail :)

I feel like I have no style whatsoever, seeing your photos every day.

Maybe I need a makeover?

I wear jeans pretty much every day. If I would wear this (admittedly, gorgeous) dress to work, I would be SO overdressed.

You look absolutely fabulous. Your hair looks amazing. You should do a how-to hairdo post!

The dress looks great. I've been in love with it since it first came out but couldn't afford it then. I keep hoping to pick it up one day but no luck (via ebay) yet. I really like how you paired the orange with the light blue.

this might be my most favorite outfit of yours. You look STUNNING. Also, I want that dress. And for you to come over and do my hair like that.

Oh lady, thats such a lovely outfit.
You know, I have heard great things about Mad Men, but I have never seen it.
Maybe I should remedy that?

Anyways, I think the 20s through the 50s style is my favorite. I love the makeup and hair styles.
The dresses are also gorgeous, and I think that they flatter me. :)

Ah! I have the exact same dress from Anthropologie hanging in my closet since 2009 and I swear I never wore it until... Easter 2011!

My style tends to be more Bohemian/post-apocalyptic than the 1940s Mad Men style but after coming across your blog post and your ADORABLE PICTURES, I'm suddenly inspired to wear my Star Turn Dress. And yes I bought the black V-neck cardigan (by HWR) that has the applique flower buttons that they paired the dress with in the Catalogue from a few years back.

I love your choice of color for the cardigan. Blue goes well with the beige yellow color of the fabric of the dress. Definitely spring time~
